The Miramar Airshow is an airshow held in October at MCAS Miramar in San Diego, California, USA. It is a major stop on the airshow circuit featuring civilian and military aircraft with a demonstration by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. In 2007, the US Air Force Thunderbirds performed instead of the Navy Blue Angels. The Saturday show is capped by a nighttime airshow. The Sunday show has almost the same schedule, but without the night show. The Wall of Fire is one of two of the high points of the show, holding a world record for its height and length. There is also a USMC demonstration team that demonstrates Marine tactics by simulating a battle situation. In about five minutes, the tarmac has been "shelled" by navy warships, attacked by helicopters, howitzers and troops dropped off, and armored vehicles arrive on scene. There are several convenience stands. The show is usually attended by several hundred thousand spectators.

In 2007, the Miramar Airshow was voted the "World's Best Military Air Show" by the International Council of Air Shows. It is the first time the award has been given to a Marine Corps air station since 1994. [1]
