Jennifer AnistonNancy Dow (born July 22, 1936) is an American actress who appeared in a brief group of films. She was married to Greek-American actor John Aniston with whom she had a daughter, actress Jennifer Aniston.
Nancy Dow was born in New York City, one of six daughters born to Louise (née Grieco) and Gordon McLean Dow. Her mother was Italian and her father was of Scottish-Canadian descent.
Dow married to Jack Melick, a pianist-bandleader based in Dallas, Texas, from 1956 to 1961.[citation needed] They had a son, John Melick.[citation needed]
Dow and her daughter were estranged for nine years, largely because Dow wrote a book about their relationship, entitled From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir (1999).[1] In 2005, after Aniston's divorce from Brad Pitt, she and her mother reportedly reconciled. Aniston described the progress of her new relationship with her mother as "baby steps".[2]
