Henry III, Duke of Silesia-Glogau

Henry III, Duke of Silesia-Glogau (died 11 December, 1310) was one of the Dukes of Silesia from 1274 to his death.

Family

He was born to Konrad I, Duke of Silesia-Glogau and his first wife Salome of Greater Poland.

His paternal grandparents were Henry II the Pious, Duke of Cracow and his wife Anna of Bohemia. His maternal grandparents were Władysław Odonic and Jadwiga of Pomerania.

Anna of Bohemia was a daughter of Ottokar I of Bohemia and his second wife Constance of Hungary. Jadwiga of Pomerania was a daughter of Mściwój I of Pomerania.

Constance of Hungary was a daughter of Béla III of Hungary and Agnes de Chatillon.

Agnes de Chatillon was a daughter of Raynald of Chatillon and Constance of Antioch (joint princes of Antioch).

Duke

He succeeded his father as Duke of Silesia-Glogau in 1274. He became Duke of Żagań in 1304 and Duke of Greater Poland in 1306.

He married Matilda of Brunswick-Lüneburg. She was a daughter of Albert I, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg and Adelheid of Montferrat. They had ten children:

*Henry II, Duke of Silesia-Żagań (c. 1291 - 22 January, 1342). Married Mathilde of Brandenburg-Salzwedel, a daughter of Herman, Margrave of Brandenburg-Salzwdel.
*Konrad I, Duke of Öls (c. 1292 - 22 December, 1366). Also Duke of Cosel. Married first Elisabeth of Wrocław, daughter of Henry VI the Good. Married secondly Euphemia of Cosel, daughter and heiress of Vladislaus, Duke of Cosel
*Boleslaus, Duke of Öls (c. 1295 - 1321).
*Beatrix von Silesia-Glogau (c. 1292 - 24 August, 1322). Married Louis IV, Holy Roman Emperor.
*Agnes of Silesia-Glogau (c. 1293 - 25 December, 1361). Married first Otto III, Duke of Bavaria and secondly Alram, Count of Hals.
*Jan, Duke of Steinau (c. 1296 - 1365). Married Margaret of Pomerania, daughter of Boguslaw IV of Pomerania.
*Przemko, Duke of Silesia-Glogau (c. 1300 - 11 January, 1331). Married Constance of Schweidnitz.
*Constance of Silesia-Glogau (c. 1305 - 1326. Married first John V, Margrave of Brandenburg-Salzwedel and secondly John III, Duke of Holstein.
*Hedwig of Silesia-Glogau.
*Salome of Silesia-Glogau.
