Sakti was one of the
princely states of theEastern States Agency of India. Today it is located in the state ofChhattisgarh . It had an area of 357 km² and, in 1982, a population of 22,819 inhabitants. Its rulers wereHindu and had aprivy purse of 29,000rupee s. The princely state acceded to the Indian Union on the January 1, 1948 thus ceased to exist.The last ruler was Rana Bahadur Leeladhar Singh, born on February 3, 1892 and succeeded as new rana on the July 4, 1914. The princely family still exists today and is headed by Rana Surender Bahadur Singh, who represented India in their hockey team and was twice a minister for the government of the State of Madhya Pradesh.
