Gareth Evans is a former professional footballer, who was forced to retire because of a long withstanding injury.

He started his career as a trainee at his hometown club Leeds United He won the F.A youth cup in 1997, in the same side as Jonathan Woodgate, Paul Robinson and Harry Kewell, he went on to make his 1st team debut in the olympic stadium in munich in a champions league qualifier against 1860 munich, before leaving to join bitter rivals Huddersfield Town in 2001. He enjoyed a great run at left-back for the Terriers during the 2001-02 season when the Terriers finished in 6th place in division two reaching the playoffs, the next season he got a nasty injury in pre season that kept him out for over a year.

As his contract expired, Huddersfield were relegated, so Evans left to join Blackpool, where he established himself as a fans favourite on the seaside, helping the Seasiders to the LDV trophy in 2004. Evans retired from the professional game in 2006 after a number of operations on his left knee.
