Episode recap

While Jon is attempting to get a fly out of the house, Garfield gets caught up in a fantasy and ends up breaking Jon’s favorite vase. He blames it on Odie and then sneaks out the back door. Jon assures Odie his belief that he didn’t break the vase; Odie then sneezes, so Jon takes him to the vet. Garfield walks around the house just to see Odie struggling as Jon puts him in the car, and he wonders if Jon is taking Odie away because of the vase accident.

At the vet, Liz tells Jon that Odie caught the flu and he has to get over it throughout a few weeks. Jon was told "never to get Garfield to bother Odie's illness or he will catch it". Jon finally understands, and Odie is taken home.

Garfield is initially pleased that he has the house to himself, but then he has trouble sleeping because he keeps seeing Odie everywhere he looks. He wakes up Jon, who simply throws him out of his room (without knowing what Garfield wants). The next morning, Liz drops Odie off, and Garfield is happy to see him until he starts eating Garfield’s food. He then ties him up and tells Jon to “ship him out”.

Goofs

*The title card of this episode misspells “Arrivederci” as “Arrivaderci”.
*Liz rings the doorbell "after" she drops Odie off, rather than before.

Quotes

*Garfield: To accept the blame and punishment "is" the decent, honorable thing to do, but instead, I’ll pin it on Odie.
*Liz: I think being around that cat is turning Jon’s brain to lasagna.
*Garfield: Gee, where's Jon taking Odie? You don't suppose...nah, not over a vase. Food, maybe, but not over a vase.
