"Pseudomonas oryzihabtans" is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped, motile bacterium that can cause peritonitis, septicemia, endophthalmitis, and bacteremia. It derives its name from the fact that, in addition to being isolated in clinical settings, it can also be found infecting rice ("Oryza sativa") [cite journal |author=Kodama, "et al." |title=Two new species of "Pseudomonas": "P. oryzihabitans" isolated from rice paddy and clinical specimens and "P. luteola" isolated from clinical specimens |journal=Int J Syst Bacteriol |volume=35 |pages=467–474 |year=1985 |pmid=11931144 ] .
