Hugo Achugar (born 1944 in
Montevideo ) is aUruguay anpoet , essayist, and researcher.Biography
Achugar graduated from the Artigas Institute for Teachers ( [http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instituto_de_Profesores_Artigas Instituto de Profesores Artigas] or IPA) with a degree in literature, and taught secondary education until, dismissed by the dictatorship, he relocated to
Venezuela . InCaracas , he worked as a researcher for theRómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American Studies (CELARG).He has held professorships in Venezuela, the United States, and Uruguay. He currently teaches in Miami.
Dr. Achugar does not spell his name with stress on the "u". It is just "Achugar" (pronounced ah-chu-GAR).
