"Pseudomonas knackmussii" is a Gram-negative, polarly flagellated, motile, short rod bacterium isolated from a sewage treatment plant in Göttingen, Germany. It is the first bacterium used to study the degradation of haloaromatic compounds. It is named after Hans-Joachim Knackmuss [cite journal |author=Stoltz, "et al." |title="Pseudomonas knackmussii" sp. nov. |journal=Int J Syst Evol Microbiol |volume=57 (Pt 3) |pages=572–6 |year=2007 Mar |pmid=17329787 ] . The type strain is DSM 6978.
