Haverfordwest andFishguard , near the village ofWolf's Castle in the county ofPembrokeshire in westWales . It gets its name from the same root asHospital andSpitalfields inLondon : the village possessed ahospitium (place of accommodation for pilgrims) belonging to the Cathedral ofSt David's [Charles, B. G., "The Placenames of Pembrokeshire", National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, 1992, ISBN 0-907158-58-7, p 448] . No trace of this remains.The population of the community in 2001 was 501. In
2004 a brand newprimary school was built in the village to educate approximately 120 pupils some of whom live outside the village itself. There is a post office, a localcommunity hall , avillage green and agraveyard that is attached to the local church St. Marys. There is a pub in the village called thePump on the Green .References
