"Saat Phere" is a Hindi television serial has aired on Zee TV since 2005. The serial has won a number of awards for its characters acclaimed performances. As of August 18th, 2008, "Saat Phere" has completed a total of 700 Episodes.

Plot

Saloni is a 24 year old girl who has a dark complexion and the story shows how Saloni's courage and strength lets her continue to overshadow her complexion and also to get on board a journey to search for her own identity hence the tagline - "Saloni ka Safar" which means "Saloni's journey".

At the beginning of the story, Saloni's mother treats Saloni's sister Shubra and brother Samar better than Saloni because they have fair skin. And because of her skin complexion, Saloni goes through a lots of tribulation to achieve her mother's love. But as time goes by, Saloni gets married to rich guy Nahar Singh, who was supposed to be engaged to Shubra, but chooses Saloni instead because of her maturity. And because of this, Shubra hates Saloni even more. As time passes by Shubra falls in love with a guy name Karan, who wants to take revenge from Shubra because of the instult she gave him by slapping on his face front of all of his friend in the school. Saloni knows Karan's intentions and tries to warn Shubra, but Karan instigates Shubra by telling her that Saloni is jealous of her happiness. He tells her that they will get married and lures her to have intimate relations with him. A few days later, Shubra finds out that she is pregnant and tries to hide this truth from her family, but eventually her family finds out. Knowing that Shubra is pregnant before marriage, Saloni's family is ashamed and worries that who will marry their daughter now. Saloni is also very tensed with Shubra's misdeed, and seeing Saloni stressed out, Neel (Saloni's childhood friend) agrees to get marry to Shubra. And they get marry, but even after getting married, Shubra still affairs with Karan who promised her that they will run away and get marry. But as a wise man have said, "truth is never hidden for long", Shubra also realizes that Karan have used her against her family, but now it is too late to repent on her mistakes because Neel have found out that she is still having an affair with Karan, and he leaves her. And as time goes by, Shubra ends up marrying Kunjan Pratap Singh who was earlier engaged to Saloni.

On the other hand, at Saloni's in-laws's house, her husband's aunt, Kuki Kaki comes to stay with them, who wants to break Nahar-Saloni's relationship because he didn't get married to the girl that she chose for him. As the story takes turns, it is discovered that Nahar was earlier married to a girl name Chandini, whom he killed because she wanted to marry Nahar's older brother Brijesh. But as the story unfolds, it is discovered that Kuki Kaki was the one that killed Chandini, and blamed Nahar for it. Later, Tara's sister Urvashi comes as a surrogate mother since Tara cannot conceive, but when it comes to give the child to Tara & Brijesh, she runs away with the child because she wants to get marry to Brijesh. On the other hand, Neel comes back and wants to obtain his childhood love Saloni. He hires a guy name Yug to create a rift between Saloni & Nahar's relationship. He makes Nahar think that Saloni is having an affair with Yug. Nahar also comes under Neel's target and he throws Saloni out until the misunderstanding clears up. Later on as the story goes through a lots of different phases, Abhi, the son of Saloni's aunt Manno Bhabhi comes, but after a while it is discoved that he is a traitor and not really her son. He marries Nahar's sister Pia and rapes her. Finally he is thrown out. Then Urvashi comes back and blackmails Saloni, who is pregnant. She says "I will give back the baby to the family if you get out of Nahar's life, and don't tell anyone about this." As Saloni have seen her sister-in-law, Tara crying for her baby everyday, Saloni agrees with the bet of Urvashi. To acquire the baby, Saloni makes the family hate her and is thrown out. But Urvashi deceives Saloni, and doesn't give the baby back and Saloni goes to protest. Aditi, Nahar's older sister, follows her and finds out the truth. She apologises and wants to take Saloni back to the house and tell eveyone the truth. But Urvashi fails her car's breaks, and in this Aditi gets killed and Saloni loses her memory. Now Saloni gets admitted to Nishi's (Neel's fiance's) hospital, and Neel, who is good now, with the help of his fiance doctor Nishi, bring her back to her senses. She still has memory loss but Nahar finds her and everything is okay. But Urvashi has married Nahar's uncle and says if they tell him about this all, she will kill the child. Urvashi does not know about Saloni being still alive. The family fools her into thinking that Saloni is Chirmi and bringing her back into the house, where they plan revenge. Urvashi finds out but then the baby is found and Urvashi is in jail. Later, Saloni tells everyone that it wouldn't been easy exposing Urvashi if Kshitij (Nahar's cousin) wouldn't have helped them.

On the contrary, Shubra's husband Kunjan and his mother, Padma Thakrauin hate Shubra's father-in-law because they think that he had an affair with a woman (his best friend) name Shyama. Shubra and Saloni make them know the truth by finding it out. It turns out he was trying to help her. Narpat, father of Saloni and Shubra, had an affair with her and abandoned her, putting her into a bad mental state. Kalika is Shyama and Narpat's illegitimate daughter who hates her father. As the storyline goes forward, Kalika forgives Saloni and stays in her mother's home; where everyone else still hate her. She gets engaged to Kshitij who really plots against the family secretly. One day there is a fire in the Singh household. Ambika, Saloni's mom, is stuck in it and Kalika saves her; thus winning the trust of all her siblings. Ambika is about to acknowledge Kalika when she starts to remember all that happened due to Shyama, Kalika's real mother. Later on, they all make up. After the marriage it is revealed to us that Kalika and her husband Kshitij are plotting against the families and wants to destroy all of their happiness. They make Kaveri believe Samar had an affair and also make the family mad at Dheer as well as Kakasa mad at Brijesh. Samar is really helping out Ginny, a former prostitute who gave her baby to Kaveri. But Kalika makes Kaveri believe that the two are having an affair, and knowing this, Kaveri leaves the house. Kalika decides to use Tara's love for Advitiya to break up Saloni & Tara's relations. When Kalika is asked to cook for 'shagun' she asks Kshitij to get food from outside. Dheer catches them and make fun of them. Bhabho says she does not have to cook. Kalika then cooks with Tara's help and tries to instigate Tara saying, "I don't want you to help me as you are my 'jethani', Saloni should have helped me but she can't as she has to rest." But Tara takes Saloni's side and says that Saloni will not let anyone work if she was well. Kalika feels raged and then puts sleeping pills in Saloni's juice while she is watching Advitiya. After drinking the juice, Saloni falls asleep and baby is about to fall off from bed. Tara comes into Saloni's room and picks up the baby, but she still takes Saloni's side. On the other hand, Kshitij asks his goons to talk about alcohol and girls in the new pub. Dheer gets distracted and goes away while supervising the truck being loaded with medicine boxes. Kshitij's men take out boxes and put fake medicine in the delivery truck. The duplicate medicine goes into the market, and people gets very sick, and because of this, police comes and arrests Brijesh. Kalika and Kshitij pretned to help and celebrate. Later they tell Tara that Brijesh is on nonbailable offence because people in hospital are raged. Hearing this, Saloni goes to plead to the people in the hospital that it was a mistake and it is not Brijesh's fault. In order to help Brijesh get out of the jail, she decides to help victims. But on the last minute Kalika instigates Tara against Saloni, but Saloni still helps them. The next day, Saloni's picture comes in paper saying that Singh family's 'bahu' tries to cover-up their mistake by paying of. Reading this, Tara gets furious and tells Saloni that she is trying to hang Brijesh and asks her to stay out as she hates Saloni very much. On the other hand, Kalika also instigate Padma (Shubra's mother-in-law) against Shubhra, and poor Shubhra gets earful from Padama. Meanwhile, case comes in the court, where Kalika drinks the fake medicine to prove to the judge that it is not poisoned. Seeing this, Brijesh gets released, but then Kalika faints and the family takes her to the hospital. Tara blames Saloni for everything that happened. Kalika gets saved by the doctors. She tells Brijesh that she knew he was innocent and Dheer was at fault. Hearing this, Brijesh goes home furiously and slaps Dheer for his misdeed.On the other hand, Kalika also instigates Kakasa that Brijesh is not doing his job. Kakasa comes home and scolds Brijesh for slapping damad and not doing his job. Brijesh apologizes to Kakasa and Dheer, & then Kalika comes back home from the hospital. She comes in kitchen and instigate Tara against Saloni again. She tells her she will do everything under Tara's supervison except 'aarti' which Saloni does. Tara then comes to the 'pooja-house' and stops Saloni from doing 'aarti' and takes away 'aarti thali' from Saloni. She says that from now on Kalika will do 'aarti' as this is the family's tradition that youngest 'bahu' does the 'aarti'. Kali pretends to be nice but Saloni refuses and asks Kalika to do the 'aarti'. After the aarti is complete as Saloni looks at Tara, she leaves puja room angrily. Meanwhile, Kalika vows to destroy them. Seeing Tara leaving the puja room angrily, Bhabho goes to her room and talks to Tara about her behavior with Saloni in the puja room. Tara ignores her and gets angry, but Brijesh comes to the room and tells Tara to calm down. Later on, Advitiya cries and Tara can't stop him from crying and tells Bhabho to take him to Saloni. Kalika watches them and Bhabho tells her this family is united with a strong bond. Unhappy Kalika then goes to Ginni (Samar's child's mother) and uses her phone to call Samar and leave a text message. Samar calls back to meet in a restaurant. Kaveri follows them, but miss them. But later on she receives a phone call from the hotel's manager telling her that a lady who came with Samar has forgotten her keys at the hotel. She gets angry. Samar goes to Ginni with keys. Kaveri too reaches and makes scene of accusing Samar and Ginni having an affair. Kaveri then comes home and packs her bags and leaves despite Samar and Ambika's pleads. Kalika is waiting out and instigates Kaveri even more by saying that she did the right thing. Bhabho on the other hand calls 'Panditji' to fix Saloni's 'god-bharai muhurt'. Ambika calls Saloni to tell her that Kaveri has left the house. Shocked Saloni goes to Kaveri's parent's house to tell her to come back home, but instead Kaveri insults her by saying that Saloni's whole family is characterless and asks her to leave.By seeing Kaveri leave the house, Kalika is very happy. Meanwhile, Kshitij asks Kakasa to give control of all business and retire. Hearing that his son is a very responsible person, Kakasa announces that he will transfer all the property to Brijesh, Nahar, and Kshitij. Unhappy Kshitij goes to a bar and drinks and comes home drunk and tries to get close to Kalika to force himself on her, but Kalika wakes up and stops Kshitij. She tells him to focus on there goal. Kshitij feels insulted but keeps quiet and vows to take care of Kalika after taking care of Brijesh and Nahar. After all this turmoil, Saloni's 'godbharai' day comes. On Saloni's 'godbharai' day 'shiv-dhara' dries up in the temple and Bhabho suspects that something bad will happen to Saloni and the baby, so she prays for them. During 'godbahrai' ceremony when Kakasa is taking care of Advitiya, he gets a phone call and put him on the bench in the kitchen and walks away. Advitiya rushes to get to sugar candy near a stove. Saloni spots him and rushes to save him and trips by the tray laying there. She screams everyone rushes in and shocked, when they see Saloni laying on the floor holding Advitiya. After awhile, she faints and the family takes her to the hospital. In the hospital doctor announces the baby is dead but Saloni is all right and she can't have another baby. Hearing this, Nahar breaks down completely and says he has no courage to tell this to Saloni. Tara also refuses to tell Saloni that her baby is dead, but then Bhabho agrees to break the news to Saloni. Instead of telling her the truth, Bhabho lies to Saloni that she had a baby girl. Saloni asks to see her, but then everyone comes into the rooom. Saloni tells Nahar that he is lucky as his dream of having a baby girl has come true. Seeing Saloni in this stage, Tara walks out crying. Kakasa tells Saloni to take a rest. Meanwhile, in the night Saloni walks out seeing every one sleeping to see her baby, but overhears nurses talking that her baby is dead. Saloni goes home in shock while everyone is searching for her frantically. Nahar is going crazy and Bhabho calls to let them know Saloni is home and shocked. They rush home and try to make her cry, but she won't. Finally, Nahar sings lullaby that Saloni used to sing and Saloni breaks up and cry. Saloni apologizes to Nahar for not protecting their baby. Nahar tells her nothing else matter to me but you. Saloni finds comfort with Advitiya. On the other hand, Nikita gets sick and Samar calls Ambika, but she lies and tells him that Saloni has fever and she has to stay. Samar then calls Kaveri, but Kaveri tells him that she does not care about Nikita or him. Hearing Nikita crying continuously, Samar calls Ginni. Meanwhile, Brijesh comments on Tara that Saloni is more of a mother to Advitiya than her. Kalika overhears this and tries to instigate Tara against Saloni, but Tara ignores and Kalika leaves. Kalika then goes to Kshitij and tells him that even though Saloni's baby is alive, she has to take care and be satisfied with Advitiya. and I will create a rift between Tara and Saloni using their love for Advitiya. Saloni child lives in a small village with her mother who's dead baby got swiched with saloni child which was done by Kalika. The mother of saloni child can't even get milk for her baby and her husband is always drunk who doesn't have a job and hate's the baby cause she's always crying. A few days later Kalika becomes prgent. Everyone in the family is happy expect for Kshitij who's confused that how is Kalika is pregent.Kshitij father tells Kalika to go to the hospital and check if she is really pregent. Kalika,Saloni and Tara go to the hospital and they said the reports will come in by the evening. In the mean time Kshitij is tying to get a hold of Kalika but everyone keeps interrupting him. Later in the afternoon the carrier bring the reports to the Singh's house. The reports are positive everyone is happy.But turns out the reports were sent by Kalika's aunt who also wants revenage on saloni and her family who destroyed her sister' life.Saloni and Nahar decied to book the best room in the hospital just for her. While Saloni is going to the hospital Kalika tells Kshitij that she really isn't pregent and is just doing this to get the property for him. Then Kshitij tells Kalika to get the reports so no one can find out the truth. Then Kalika finds out from Dheer that Saloni went to the hospital to book a room. Saloni asks the nurse to book a room but tye nurse saya that there is no one in our system named Kalika Singh and the reports are a fake. Saloni is shocked and just before leaving the hospital she bumps into someone. Then the another nurse apporaches her and says that someone had typed in the wrong name and said that we will book the room and Saloni is revlived.The next day Kalika aunt comes and to take care of Kalika but Kalika actually brought her there to keep reminding Saloni about the death of her child.and her mission is to separate tara and saloni. She takes care of advitiya. She tells Tara to keep adi away from sal and sal can not enter kitchen or temple.When Nahar asks to get water for him sal asks bhbhho, nahar gets upset and finds out saloni is not allowed in kitchen. He is very upset as in teh office kakasa has asked them not to do business with their old clients. Bhaho calms both naahr and brij. Brij is worried while Naahr comforts saloni. Lali masi aggravate situation by saying that adi has buri nazar and he is sick. tara asks sal to stay away from adi. sal is very upset but tells Nahar she will stay away from adi. the whole family goes to mundan. saloni is lali masi stays home with adi. lali masi ignores crying adi sal picks him up and calms him. tara comes home and explodes and suggest saloni to adopt a child.sal tells truth that lali masi was sleeping and would not wake up. lali masi calls saloni names including wicked woman. Nahar raises his hand and lali masi takes advantage and pretend to leave. sal and Tara begs and stop her. sal is broken up and decides to volunteer in kids school. Where she finds a liitle baby girl crying. sal looks around and picks her up and finds a peace. Sal is unaware that she is holding her own daughter. Greedy drunk man comes screaming and schemeing and accuse sal of stealing his daughter. Nahar pays him off. They tehn have good time on date. Kakasa summons Nahar as kTJ has put 5 karor in Naahr 's account to frame him. Drunk ktj comes home and tries to get close to kali They both slap each other. kshitij raped kalika and after that she kill him in the other hand kakasa blam nahar about transferring the 10 crrore in his account nahar try to explain him but he not listen to him and after that nahar find that shitij is the one do all this nahar agrily go to kshitij`s room and find him dead he remove the knif just then kalika come and farm nahar about kshitije`s murder nahar try to explain them that he not kill kshitij but kakas` not believe him saloni try try to explain kakas` that nahar is inoccent but he not listen her and police come and arrest nahar.Next day sal tries to convince kali that Nahar is innocent . Kali says she is going get him punished as she has promised a father who lost his only son. Kali in court calls every one and she himself provides the proofs. Without much hearing judge give Nahar his verdict. That Nahar murdered KTJ with motive. Nahar is sentenced to death. Hearing this sal faints. Every one is upset and crying. brij too loses hope. Sal wakes up screaming. Brij comforts her saying will go to higher court. Sal decides to fight back. Meanwhile in prison cell Nahar gets another person call fernandes. He brags about his wife and that she has found kalika madam. Naahr sees a picture of lali masi and realize he is framed by kali. kali too boasts to sal that Nahar is innocent but she will hang him. sal tries to tell kakasa. kakasa kicks her out. Brij says he is with sal and so is bhabho and tara. Lali masi runs away. Kaksa transfers his proerty in kali's name. They find lali in warehouse and she confesses to kakasa she is julia and worked for kali to destroy saloni. Kakasa slaps saloni. They all got ot save Nahar. Kali goes to get her mom. Ambi refuses but samat tells her to take shyama away. Sal tells lawyer. Lawyer say we can not prove Nahar is innocent. we need prof. Nahar recalls some one picked up phone but did not reply. They figure out that kTJ died before Nahar called him. sal brij goes to judge and make him sign stay to stop phansi. Nahar is saved.At home kali is insulting kakasa and asks him to leave. Narpat comes and scolds her. kali talks back that your daughter is getting punished for your crimes even though Nahar is innocent he will be hanged and you will see your daughter widowed in front of your eyes. That is when sal enters with Nahar. Kali is shocked and ask them all to leave the house as this is her house now and she intends to enjoy with her mom. She also tells kakasa she lied about being pregnent. kakasa is so upset. As every one is leaving Shyama screams stop. no one is going anywhere. She is ashmed to have a daughter like kali who destroyed so many lives. She then slaps kali and tells her you are not my daughter. Narpat is innocent. he was not aware that I was pregnent.Kali then tells them truth about marrying ktj under contract and how KTJ raped her and she killed him. She then calls police and confesses her crime. As she is leaving she tells sal that her daughter is alive and to take revenge she made doc switch her baby with dead baby. Nahar and sal gets excited.Nahar saloni goes to the doctor. Nahar first asks nicely then threatens him to call police. A nurse passing by says it was her idea and also she tear up record upon kali's asking. They find partial address of the woma who has their baby. They look for baby and come back with no success as every one is ready to party thinking Nah sal will come back with baby. Saloni keeps crying.nahar comforts her and assures her they will find the baby. Ginni wants to leave ambika's house. Kaveri stops her and apologize. Kaveri says sorry to samar. Ambika comforts saloni. Saloni says please mom let me cry for my daughter. drunk man gets tired to baby crying and decides to sell her in brothel. He keep on going from one brothel to another. No one accepts her. Finally he puts her in truck. Meanwhile poor woman searches for her and when drunk man comes home and he tells her he got rid of sawari. She hits him and serches for sawari. Saloni listening to baby crying runs to the door to find Manno bhabhi entering house with pia and her baby. sal blesses pia's baby. Sal is still upset. Manno bhabihi seeing Nahar gets happy as she return upon reading about Nahar. Sal tells Mb about her daughter missing. Manno Bhabi says we will go to temple and ma will find us the baby. Truck driver finds baby and puts in other truck. In the temple thakurs don't allow sawari's mom. Saloni and Manno Bhabi fight with them. Saloni takes poor woman in and they both do pooja. As sawari's mom approaches truck and truck is leaving she hears sawari crying. Man tells her where truck is going. So sawari's mom reach their before truck reaches.But those 2 guys puts baby in the temple steps. MB brings saloni in the same temple to pray for saloni's baby adn talk to saint baba who predicts saloni's baby is close by and she will be with her mother. Sal gets happy.. They miss the baby. One begger looking for a child picks up baby and hides her in his blanket. A lady seeing him with baby confronts with him. but begger says it is my daughter who is sick. Lady says wait and gets MB and Saloni. But begger vanishes with sawari. savitri finds a truck and looks for her baby . Man says they left her in temple as they did not want to be accused to stealing a baby. Savitri then goes to temple and ends up in that lady's house. She says she last show her with begger. Meanwhile begger gets lots of money and being happy praises sawari. Police comes and picks him up and takes sawari to orphanage. sawari is running fecer so doctors comes and checks out and puts her on glucoes and other medicines.Saloni stops eating and keeps crying. finally Nahar says ok let us go and get the baby. They come to orphnage. sal feels connected. They show them children. Nahar says we are looking for infant 3-4 months old. They see several babies. sawari keeps crying among children. Lady puts her away saying she is sick. Sal gets drawn to her naturally and picks her up. Sawari starts playing with her and smiling. Even orphange head is surprised and says you can take her home and come tom to sign papers. Nahar saloni come shome. Bhabho welcomes baby. sal is so happy they talk about naming her. Next day as they sign adoption papers and leave the place. savitri lands there and calls baby sawari. Saloni after hearing her out gives the baby. She goes back in and adopts another baby. They come home with different baby. Dheer who made remark about sawari being so dark and matching saloni again remarks which beauti parlor you take baby to who became so fair now. Every one looks at dheer angrily. They then decide to have pooja and party to name the baby. Next day they have pooja and sal asks Tara to name the baby. Tara asks sal to name her baby. But sal insists so Tar aname teh baby. Sapanch show up with parbatsingh and tells brij tehy can not give lower caste girl singh name. there is big argument between sarpanch, sal, mb, Nahar. Finally brij asks them to leave as they are not afraid of tehm or don't care about them. PBS leaves threaening them. MB says forgt about them time to celebrate now. She makes fun of brij, tara, saloni nahar and samar kaveri. samar is happy kaveri gets upset. finally they all dance. dheer makes kavri upset remindning about gold waist belt. then Ishan playing with remote controlled car hits flower vase which lands on sweta. sweta looses lots of blood and end up in hospital needing O -tive blood. Nahar gets his blood tested to donate to sweta. But tehy find a donor. Also Nahar runs into his childhood freind varun. Who helps tehm with sweta's treatment. Sweta gets blood trasfusion and recovers but doctor finds out and tells varun about Nahar having brain memngitis. Varun is shocked and decides to call Brij. Brij hands phone to Nahar unknwingly. Nahar finds out about his illness and hides from brjesh. Varun asks him to get more test done wher Nahar runs into saloni and pia. Varun comes talking about test. tehn sal gets suspious. But varun lies it was test of Nahar's employee. Nahar comes home and calls sal in their room to talk about something important after hearing sal wants sweta to be a doctor and she wants sweta to marry a doctor.
