- Monster DLP
The Monster DLP (Diversity Leadership Program) is a series of national leadership and career building conferences offered to college students. At each event, a diverse group of 300 undergraduate students attend one of ten summer weekends with their peers to learn professional skills like networking, diversity, leadership and team-building. The Diversity Leadership Programs award scholarships to outstanding participants based on demonstrated leadership ability and participation. All programs feature dynamic interactive workshops, keynote speakers, and social activities. History of the DLP
In 2002, Chuck Knippen founded the Diversity Leadership Programs while interning with Making it Count, a division of Monster.com. His mission was to create a program that would help college students gain the skills they need to be successful during and after school. Chuck’s initial inspiration for DLP stemmed from his experience at LEAD (Leadership, Education and Development) Program in Business at
Columbia University during high school. The DLP is currently in its sixth year of operation. In its first year, Monster DLP consisted of 3 events. In 2007, 10 programs will be held on college campuses across July and August. Monster DLP has now spawned the Monster Leadership Weekends and the Custom Leadership Programs.External links
