Marin is a graduate of
California State University, Los Angeles , where she earned aBachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is also a graduate ofHarvard University 's John F. Marin served as mayor and councilwoman of
Huntington Park, California a city of 65,000 residents, with a population that is 99 percentHispanic . She was first elected to the city council in 1994 and was overwhelmingly re-elected in 1999. Concurrently with serving the citizens of Huntington Park, Marin worked forAT&T asPublic Relations Manager for the Hispanic Market in theSouthern California Region.During her tenure as mayor, she served as president of the Mayors and Councils Department as well as the vice chair of the Latino caucus for the

Huntington Park, California , where she has great influence over local politics. In 2001 she endorsed Edward Escareno for his successful council race there. In 2003, while Marin was the U.S. Treasurer, she supported the successful slate of 3 candidates to Huntington Park's city council, that included John Noguez, Ofelia Hernandez, and Mario Gomez, with Escareno, her protege, acting as the slate's campaign manager.candal
