affiliations =WLFF, known on-air as 106.5 The Coyote, is a
Country music FMradio station inMyrtle Beach, South Carolina . The station is owned byCumulus Broadcasting and broadcasts with an ERP of 50kw.tation history
WSYN was previously WAZX, a
top 40 station inGeorgetown, South Carolina . In 1988, the station increased its power to 50,000 watts and changed to the Sunny 106.5 name and WSYN call letters, with ahot adult contemporary format. The format wasoldies from 1990 to 2008. During its heyday of playing Oldies radio on the coast of South Carolina, WSYN served as home to many well-known local talents, including Gary "The Freakin' Deacon" Dawson, Kemosabi Joe Johnson, Sissy Hall, and djrockinray, as well as morning show host Lou Krieger, Randy Clemens, Al Connors, syndicated host Marty Thompson, plus weekend hosts Jimmy Ocean and Dianne Costello. Horry County Council Chair Liz Gilland previously hosted a Sunday morning gospel program on the station. Frank Barnhill served as the News and Sports Director for the station during two different tenures, for many years dating back to the 1990s.In an attempt to improve sluggish ratings that had shown steady declines from 2006 through April 2008 (which were at an all time low)Fact|date=September 2008 Sunny then moved to 103.1 FM. The 106.5 frequency changed in April 2008 to country [Steve Palisin, "Radio Format and Station Changes in Progress," "The Sun News", September 7, 2008.] and the name to 106.5 The Wolf. However, the country station in
Charleston, South Carolina , 96.9 The Wolf, which is owned byCitadel Broadcasting , was not a sister station to 106.5 The Wolf, owned by Cumulus Broadcasting. This created some confusion in the initial weeks after the Cumulus station's identity change. Less than two weeks after the Cumulus station's re-incarnation as The Wolf, Cumulus found another name -- The Coyote -- to end the confusion.Personalities
Notable on air personalities on The Coyote are Joey Dee with more music in the mornings, Heather Stevens in the midday, Night train for your drive home and more country music favorites 24/7!
