Part of Your World

"Part of Your World" also known as "Part of That World" is a song written and composed by the songwriting duo of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. It was originally featured in the 1989 Disney film "The Little Mermaid", and is also featured in the Broadway musical adaptation of the film. This song is sung by the mermaid Ariel, while in a cavern which holds most of her treasures, most of which are human things. It reveals how Ariel longs for being part of the human's world, and how she is fed up with being a mermaid and living under the sea.

The film version of the song was performed by Jodi Benson; other Disney renditions of the song include one by Jessica Simpson on "DisneyMania". The song has also been performed by Miley Cyrus and Skye Sweetnam. The Broadway musical version of the song is sung by Sierra Boggess, which is on the Original Broadway Cast album. The pirate-themed rock band Captain Bogg and Salty also recorded a hard rock version of the song in 2006, facetiously claiming it to be a "mermaid lullaby" which was used to lure hapless sailors to their deaths.
