January 22 - The National Council of Women of Ireland is agitating to form a women's police force.
*April 8 - All political parties and Church leaders gather at theMansion House to pay tribute to the Chief Rabbi, Dr. Herzog, who is leaving to take up the new post of Chief Rabbi ofPalestine .
*April 14 - The Minister for Finance,Seán MacEntee , delivers his budget. He reduces the costs of butter, sugar and tea.
*April 30 -Éamon de Valera introduces the newConstitution of Ireland . It recognises the institution of marriage and the family, as well as the special position of the Catholic Church.
*May 11 - The Constitution Bill receives its second reading inDáil Éireann .Éamon de Valera dismisses claims that theConstitution of Ireland provides for a dictatorship.
*May 13 - A bronze statue of King George II inSt. Stephen's Green is blown to pieces.
