He was drafted in the eighth round, 182nd overall, of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames. He played in the National Hockey League with the Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings, and Buffalo Sabres.
In his NHL career, DeGray appeared in 153 games. He scored 18 goals and added 47 assists.
