Jared Palomar is the bassist in the San Diego rock band Augustana. Additionally, he provides back-up vocals and occasionally plays the keyboard.

Before joining Augustana, Jared was a resident of Springfield, Illinois. He began playing piano at the age of six. By the time he attended Springfield High School, he was also playing guitar, bass guitar, and the trombone in his school's concert and jazz bands. Additionally, Jared began a Christian band called Fireproof during his junior year in which he was the lead vocalist, guitarist, and writer.

After graduating from high school, Jared attended Greenville College in southern Illinois in admiration for its contemporary Christian music program. It is there that he met Dan Layus and Josiah Rosen, founders of Augustana. Shortly after, they asked Jared to join their band as a keyboardist, Dan and Josiah decided to test their efforts in San Diego, California. Jared agreed to follow, where the three met drummer Justin South and completed their lineup until Josiah's departure from the band in April 2006. The band still remains based in San Diego today.

Jared is Filipino-American, of half Filipino descent. His father, a minister at his community church, died when Jared was in the ninth grade due to cancer. His mother was also deeply involved in the family's ministry by serving as a choir director [1] . Jared has a sister named Kendra.
