York City Football Club is an English
association football club based inYork ,North Yorkshire and currently play in theConference National . They appointedJock Collier as their first official manager in July 1928. Collier initially joined the club as player-manager, but was forced to retire from playing due to a broken ankle. He left the club in May 1930 and managerial duties were carried out by club secretaryGeorge Sherrington . Collier, however, was re-appointed as manager in 1933, helping the club establish themselves inthe Football League . [cite book
