London Buses route 204 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. This service is currently contracted to Metroline.

History

Route 204 was introduced on 24 February 1990 to replaced the withdrawn section of route 226 between Edgware & Sudbury Town.

The route has always been operated by Metroline and was initially operated from Edgware garage using Metrobuses. But in 1993 the route was converted to single deck and the allocation was moved to North Wembley garage. In 1997 the route was converted to low-floor Dennis Dart SLF/Plaxton Pointer and the Sunday service was routed via Wembley Arena to replace the section of route 297.

In April 2002, a contract renewal to Metroline saw the route converted back to double deck, this time with new Volvo B7TL 10.6m/Plaxton President (VPLs), but North Wembley garage has low beam and so the allocation was transferred back to Edgware in August 2002 and the Sunday service via Wembley Arena was withdrawn.

Five years later, in April 2007, the contract was once again renewed with Metroline and 14 new Alexander Dennis Enviro400 double deckers entered service, to replace the existing vehicles which went to other routes.
