"Too Many Girls" is a Broadway musical comedy and a 1940 film version of the show, starring Lucille Ball.

Broadway version

"Too Many Girls" opened October 18, 1939, with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Lorenz Hart and book by George Marion Jr. It was produced by George Abbott. It ran for 249 performances at the Imperial Theatre, moving to the Broadway Theatre in 1940.

The cast included Desi Arnaz, Richard Kollmar, Eddie Bracken, and Van Johnson.

Film version

Arnaz, Bracken, and Johnson repeated their roles in the 1940 RKO Radio Pictures movie version. During the filming, Arnaz met future wife Lucille Ball, who was co-starring in the film. For some reason the popular song "I Like to Recognize the Tune" did not appear in the film version, but it did appear in a later Lucille Ball film, Meet the People (MGM, 1944).

The songs

* "Heroes in the Fall"
* "Tempt Me Not"
* "My Prince"
* "Pottawatomie"
* "’Cause We Got Cake"
* "Love Never Went to College"
* "All Dressed Up (Spic and Spanish)"
* "I Like to Recognize the Tune"
* "Look Out"
* "The Sweethearts of the Team"
* "She Could Shake the Maracas"
* "I Didn't Know What Time It Was"
