Tumbarumba is located within theRiverina region and more specifically on the South West Slopes at the western edge of theSnowy Mountains . The community was established in the late 1850s after gold was discovered in the district. The Post Office opened on 1 August 1860 but was spelt Tumberumba until 1915. Citation
