Marysville High School is a public high school in Marysville, Michigan. Its enrollment is about 850 students, and its athletic mascot is the Viking. There will be a new Marysville High School built in the near future, with a finish date set at 2010, making the class of the same year the last to graduate from the current Marysville High School.

Marysville has a history of successful sport teams, especially in volleyball, football, and, recently, softball.

The Marysville Viking Regiment has been in the top 10 in the state for more than a decade, placing fifth in the 2007-08 school year.

The once-legendary football team plays at Walt Braun Viking Stadium at the corner of Michigan and Collard.(A pun on Detroit Tigers Stadium being at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull).

The school also has a successful band program led by Mr. Dennis Duso.

Marysville has been the "Home of the Vikings" since 1950. From 1950 to 2003, Marysville had the Highest Winning Percentage and Highest Number of Wins in the state of Michigan.

Volleyball

The Volleyball team has won the Michigan Volleyball State Championship in every year from 1997 to 2006, with the exception of 2005. The Volleyball team has won nine of the last ten Volleyball State Championships. This includes a streak of eight State Championships in a row, which is also a record in the state of Michigan. Coach John Knuth has lead the volleyball team to 20 District Championships in a row and 19 Regional Championships in a row. This streak is still active.

The Volleyball team also holds a national record for the longest winning streak, in any sport. From 1996-2000, the Marysville Viking Volleyball team won 192 games in a row.

Cheerleading

The Cheer team was named first in the MCCA poll in 2003 under coach Laura Breidenich. This is not to be confused with an MHSAA Championship; it is an opinion poll, not a competition-based title.

Football

The Football team has won a total of three State Championships: 1992 (MHSAA Class B); 1986 (MHSAA Class B); 1961 (AP Class B).

Marysville holds the state of Michigan's longest streak of Consecutive Winning Seasons, at 39. This winning streak started in 1963 and lasted until 2004.

In 2007 the Marysville Vikings experienced their first ever 100% winless season. The 2007 team had a record of 0 Wins and 9 Losses.

For over three decades, the Marysville Football team never lost two games in a row under coach Walt Braun. With Mark Caza as the current Varsity Football coach, the football program experienced its longest losing streak ever--a 12 game streak that extends from 2006-2008.

On September 12th, 2008 The Marysville Vikings Finally snapped their 12 game losing streak by defeating the Madison Height Madison Eagles 27-7

Marysville's previous coach, Walt Braun, coached football from 1956-1998. He retired with 300 wins as the winningest coach in Michigan high school football history. Coach Braun was the first coach to reach the 300-win milestone.

1983 State Champion Football

Marysville's undefeated 1983 team is considered to be the best football team that has ever played in St. Clair County, Michigan. During interviews, coach Braun said "1983 team is by far the most talented team he ever coached."

The statistics have been best of St. Clair county of the 1983 Marysville football teams. The 1983 team finished the season with an undefeated record of nine wins and zero losses. The team shut out six of their nine opponents, and the starting defense never gave up a first-half touchdown. The 1983 team outscored its opponents by a staggering 21.75:1 ratio. The 1983 Viking Football team scored an amazing 435 points during a nine-game season, and allowed only 20 points to be scored against them. No team scored more than one touchdown against the 1983 Marysville Vikings, and the starting offense never punted.

The 1983 team is considered a part of the Marysville Football legend, because the 1983 team finished the regular season undefeated, yet failed to make the playoffs due to flaws that have since been corrected in the Michigan High School Athletic Associate playoff system. At the end of the 1983 season, when the playoffs came to an end, the legendary 1983 Marysville Viking football team was ranked #1.

The 1983 Marysville Vikings are the only team in the history of the MHSAA to be ranked #1 in the AP Poll at the end of the regular season, remain undefeated throughout the course of the playoffs, yet not win the state championship. As a result, the 1983 Marysville Vikings are referred to as the "Mythical State Champions." This is the 25th anniversary of the Marysville Viking football team. Marysville football fans have recently started a petition saying that. Marysville Schools are planning to place the 1983 football team listed next to the 1961, 1986, and 1992 football champions at the new football stadium.

Marysville holds the state championship for 1983. From 2005-2007 they have won 3 consecutive district titles. In 2007 the team made it to the State Finals, in which they had the area's top catcher and pitcher.
