Squaw Valley Academy is a college-preparatory boarding school for grades 6-12, located in
Squaw Valley, California at Lake Tahoe. The school was founded in 1978 by Donald Rees, its current headmaster. The school is run day-to-day by a team of senior administrators.The school's mission is, "We challenge with rigorous academics; we support with consistent behavioral standards; we train in life-long sports; we provide outdoor adventure; and we foster self-esteem through real accomplishment."
The school is academically focused with graduating students consistently accepted to four-year colleges across the United States. 21 graduates in 2006 gained 59 college acceptances, and 12 graduates in 2007 had 35 acceptances.
Fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Squaw Valley Academy follows California state standards for middle and high school students. The faculty prepares students for the colleges of their choice by meeting the standards for the University of California system.
SVA offers a wide range of sports from skiing/snowboarding to soccer to mountain biking. Along with rigorous academics, SVA has consistent behavioral standards, life-long sports, and outdoor adventure.
