Old immigration

Old immigration

The Old Immigration was the period of time in the late 19th century when the immigrants moved to the United States from Northern or Western Europe. Most of the immigrants moved from such countries as Britain, France, Germany, Ireland or Scandinavia. Many of the Old Immigrants were attracted to America because of the availability of free land, the Irish potato famine and the Napoleoanic wars, the promise of personal and/or religious freedom. American Dream was also one of the factors.Compared to the new immigrants, the old ones were more skilled, rich and most of them spoke English. They were also able to move Westward easily.
