Eagle Publications also owns several weekly and specialty publications, including the "Connecticut Valley Spectator" of
Lebanon, New Hampshire , "The Message for the Week" ofChester, Vermont , and "The Weekly Flea". Eagle Publications owned The Argus Champion of New London, New Hampshire. On July 30, 2008, after the paper provided local news for 185 years, to the region, the company closed it's doors, laying off employees. The publisher sited monthly losses, contributed to more people reading the publication on the internet and advertising on the internet. It is also believed that the increasing cost of newsprint is partially to blame. The combined papers have 197,445 readers, according to current rate card.
