Technology
GoToMeeting was designed to allow the desktop view of a host computer to be broadcast to a group of computers connected to the host through the Internet. Transmissions could be protected with high-security encryption and optional passwords. By combining a Web-hosted subscription service with software installed on the host computer, transmissions could be passed through highly restrictive firewalls.[1]
History
GoToMeeting was developed in July 2004 by Citrix Online of Santa Barbara, California. In September 2009, Citrix Online and Rotary International announced a partnership to offer Rotary clubs and their members Citrix GoToMeeting to meet, collaborate and communicate via the Web.[2]

GoToMeeting has been sold in two editions - Personal and Corporate - providing increasing service management capabilities. Version 4, released in 2008, maintains these editions, providing Macintosh support for meeting hosts and VoIP integration. Software is installed by logging on to the GoToMeeting Web site. GoToMeeting software is compatible with Microsoft Explorer versions 6.0 and above, Mozilla Firefox 2.0 and above and on Macintosh Safari 3.0 and above.
