MDMX

MDMX

The MDMX (MIPS Digital Media eXtension), also known as MaDMaX is a SIMD computational unit developed for the MIPS family of processors. It was released in 1996.

This computational unit offers an instruction set to allow SIMD processing of multimedia data packed into the floating point registers. It includes an extended product acumulator of 192 bits.
