The Manjaa is a traditional Punjabi name for a woven bed. It consists of a wooden frame bordering a set of knotted ropes.
Traditionally the user would lie directly on top of the ropes without an intervening mattress. The making of a Manjaa begins with the tying of a Jee (Life knot) at one corner of the bed. The art of weaving the manjaa is called manjaa unena.
Manjaa were known as Charpoy (from the Persian word چهارپایه charpaya, char + paya "four-footed") to the British.
