Radio Medica or the "Goole Hospitals
Broadcasting Service" was founded in1974 by Chris Poulton and John Follon. The first programme was presented byJimmy Saville . In those days the station operated with very basic equipment from a small converted bathroom at the old St. John's Hospital inGoole . Things progressed until the station was broadcasting to three hospitals inGoole , as well as hospitals inHowden , Rawcliffe and Hook. In1986 , with the completion of the newhospital , most of the other buildings closed and a brand new studio was built at the Woodland Avenue complex. Even in those days the station was still using onlyvinyl records andtape cartridge machines. Progression in the late 1980s saw the fitting of CD players and in the 1990sMiniDisc players made their debut. Because of Radio Medica was never a 24 hour operation, the station would take programmes fromViking FM . In2000 the station increased its broadcasting hours and with the help of automation, is on air 24 hours a day.Future plans
