West Hagbourne is a small village and civil parish on the southern fringes of the English county of Oxfordshire (formerly part of Berkshire), located on the Berkshire Downs 2 miles south of Didcot.

Amenities

The village has a pub, the Horse & Harrow.

EducationVillagers go to Hagbourne CofE Primary School in neighbouring East Hagbourne until the age of 11. Depending on the sex of the child, they will either go to St. Birinus School (for boys), or Didcot Girls School, both of which are located in Didcot.

Recent developments

The very nature of this small village is seriously threatened by the District Council's plans to expand the town of Didcot.

Initially with the development of a large area of land to the west of Didcot, to be known as Great West Park - this will damage the peacefulness of the village, even with the vague possibility of a relief road being discussed, the imposition of over 3,000 more houses on Didcot will continue to overload the small road which passes through this tiny community.

Yet more plans for 2010 - to add yet another tranch of at least 3,000 more houses as part of the regional development plan, will further change the nature of the villages that lie on the periphery of the town of Didcot.

Transport

The village is served by 6 buses a day Monday - Saturday, by the Abingdon Bus Company's Route 94, from West Hagbourne to Didcot via Blewbury.
