Langham letter

Langham letter

The Langham letter is a letter written to describe the summer 1575 entertainment of Elizabeth I of England by Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester at Kenilworth Castle. The authorship of the letter is ascribed to Robert Langham, a minor court official, but is thought to be written by Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford.

The vocabulary used in the letter has been described as very similar to that used by William Shakespeare, and is often quoted to support the contention that The Earl of Oxford wrote Shakespeare's plays.
