A high microwave tower,
Pur Down BT Tower , is located at Lockleaze and is known locally as the "Cups and Saucers". The distinctive tower can be seen from many miles away.During World War II, a large anti-aircraft gun emplacement, known locally as Purdown Purcy [cite web | title=76th A.A. Regt R.A. (TA) | url=http://bristolgunners.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/76th%20A.A%20Regt%20R.A.%20237th%20A.A.%20Bty%20R.A.%20%5BT.A.%5D.html | accessdate=2008-04-02] , was located on the down, the ruins of which remain today.
