Foscoe, North Carolina

Foscoe, North Carolina is a small, but growing community located in Watauga county in the Northwestern mountains of North Carolina. Foscoe lies in a beautiful valley seven miles south of Boone, N.C. and ten miles north of Banner Elk. The Watagua river flows through the middle of Foscoe and state Highway 105 South links Foscoe to her neighbors. The community was originally known as "Shulls Mills", however this name fell out of favor partway through the 20th century.

Foscoe has experienced rapid growth over the past twenty years as a tourist and summer community. New developments surround Foscoe on every side because of its central location to the areas attractions. Residents and visitors to Foscoe enjoy convenient access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, four ski resorts, Tweetsie Railroad and many golf courses. The area is also home to a lost ski area by the name of Mill Ridge.

The East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad (Nicknamed "Tweetsie") passed through the town until the flood of 1940.
