- Badger State Trail
The Badger State Trail is a newly renovated stretch of abandoned railway corridor leading from the Wisconsin – Illinois state line to
Madison, Wisconsin . Cities along the way are, from south to north, Monroe, Monticello, and Belleville. Near Monticello, the trail passes through the convert|1200|ft|adj=on long, about 120 year old, unlitStewart Tunnel . A state trail pass is required to bicycle or ski the trail, and the path is patrolled byWisconsin Department of Natural Resources rangers. The Badger State Trail connects to theCapital City Trail in Madison, and theJane Addams Trail at the state line (leading toFreeport, Illinois ) which will connect to the proposed convert|500|mi|adj=onGrand Illinois Trail System . Along the way, the Badger State Trail crosses theSugar River Trail in Monticello, and the Cheese Country Trail in Monroe.External links
