It is composed of nine villages: Baisa, Cătămăreşti, Cătămăreşti-Deal, Cerviceşti, Cerviceşti-Deal, Cucorăni, Ipoteşti (the commune centre), Manoleşti and Stânceşti.
The commune is so named because Mihai Eminescu spent his childhood here, in the village of Ipoteşti.
