"Grimm Fairy Tales" is a comic book series published by Zenescope Entertainment that began publication in June 2005.

It is a horror series that takes old fairy tales and gives them twists, sometimes extending them and sometime changing them.

Today's teenagers have enough problems to deal with. And that's where Sela comes in. She offers insight to their problems by showing them that it could be worse. She comes across one young person at a time and helps them through their problems, by telling them a story.

Sela gained her abilities and her book from an ancient being and granted her powers for the sole purpose of helping humanity, even if her advice might sometimes fall onto deaf ears.

Sela has taken on many appearances and names, but one of her alternate identities that she frequently uses is Dr. Mathers, a teacher. Besides this, Sela is well known as appearing as a young woman with long black hair and glasses.

Recently, in "Grimm Fairy Tales Annual" #1, a new character has appeared named Belinda. She acts as a polar opposite to Sela, and rather than using fairy tales to help people, she uses them to make their lives worse. She briefly fills Sela's role as a storyteller to a group of small children at a school, and tells them twisted versions of "Jack and Jill", "The Old Woman Who Lived In a Shoe", "Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater", "Little Boy Blue", and "Pinocchio". "Pinocchio", "Peter Peter", and "Jack and Jill" all suggest that Belinda had a hand in influencing them. When she finishes reading, all of the children are horribly traumatized, except for one boy named Timmy. When he approaches Belinda and tells her that he liked her stories, he tells her that his mother's boyfriend has been doing bad things to him. Belinda tells him that she will help him, and her "helping hand" was seen in #20, "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". Belinda and Sela fought in #22, "The Snow Queen", and #23-24, "Snow White and Rose Red", which will further explore their relationship.

Grimm Fairy Tales: Return to Wonderland

Starting in May 2007, a "Grimm Fairy Tales" spin-off and limited series called "Return to Wonderland" debuted. Written by Raven Gregory, the series tells the tale of Alice Liddle, the heroine of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", and her teenage daughter, Calie Liddle (an anagram of "Alice"). [ [http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=98787 Raven Gregory on "Return to Wonderland"] , Newsarama, Janurary 24, 2007]

Alice is no longer the little girl who fell down the rabbit hole and discovered Wonderland. Now an adult, she once tried to commit suicide by slitting her wrists. Mentally disturbed and in a dream-like state, her only link to reality is the disturbing white rabbit that she clings to.

Calie, not wanting to deal with her mother's mental illness, is now a substance-abusing, alcoholic, promiscuous party girl. The series will deal with the entire Liddell family, Alice's childhood, and Calie venturing into a darker and more frightening Wonderland than the one her mother knows.

Confirmed characters for Return to Wonderland are the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter, [ [http://comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=230&disp=table Tales From Wonderland: The Mad Hatter] , Comic Book Resources] the Caterpillar, the Carpenter, the Walrus, Tweedledee, Tweedledum, and the Cheshire Cat.

It has been announced that "Tales From Wonderland", a three part prequel to the Return to Wonderland series, will be released soon, followed in June by #0 of "Beyond Wonderland", the sequel to "Return to Wonderland". Zenescope has also been in the works trying to get "Return to Wonderland" optioned as a major motion picture.

Grimm Fairy Tales: The Piper

Zenescope released another spin-off series called "Grimm Fairy Tales: The Piper". It is a four issue series that started in March 2008 and wrapped up in mid-2008.
