Founded in 1995, City of Lights, City of Angels is an annual film festival held in the United States which showcases the diversity of French cinema and promotes its talents among film professionals. The Festival is also open to the general public. All films shown during the festival have been released in France during the prior year. They are presented for the first time in Hollywood, and most are U.S. or West Coast premieres.
Throughout the 7-day film festival, an eclectic series of feature films and shorts, as well as documentary and genre specific films, are presented. Screenings are generally followed by audience Q & A with filmmakers or actors. Numerous professional meetings and panel discussions are scheduled throughout the week.
COL COA is funded by the Franco-American Cultural Fund, a collaborative effort between the Writers Guild of America, West, the Directors Guild of America, the Motion Picture Association of America, and France’s Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Éditeurs de Musique. The Festival is also made possible with the support of L’ARP (France’s Association of Authors, Directors and Producers), in collaboration with the Film & TV Department of the French Embassy and Unifrance.
