Kip Janvrin (born
8 July 1965 inGuthrie Center, Iowa ) is a former American decathlete. Janvrin is a native ofPanora, Iowa and is currently the Co-Head Track & Field Coach at theUniversity of Central Missouri in Warrensburg,Missouri .College career
Janvrin is a 1988 graduate of
Simpson College , anNCAA Division III school inIndianola, Iowa . He won three NCAA Division III titles in thedecathlon , as well as individual titles in thepole vault and400 meter hurdles .Professional career
He took the bronze medal at the 1994
Goodwill Games , won the1995 Pan American Games and finished seventeenth at the 2001 World Championships. He also participated at the2000 Summer Olympics , without success.His personal best result was 8345 points, achieved in June 1996 in Atlanta. This happened two months before the
1996 Summer Olympics , but the US Olympic decathlon team would consist ofDan O'Brien ,Steve Fritz andChris Huffins .Double Decathlon
He is world record holder in the
