Victor Mikhalevski

Victor (Viktor) Mikhalevski ( _he. וויקטור מיכלבסקי; born 8 July 1972, Gomel, Belarus) is an Israeli chess grandmaster who lives in Beer Sheva.

As of April 2007 his Elo rating was 2590, making him the #9 player in Israel and the 169th-highest rated player in the world. It is his peak rating so far.

He played for Israel at second reserve board (+4 –1 =2) in the 37th Chess Olympiad at Turin 2006.

He won at Montreal in 2005. He also tied for first at the 2008 Canadian Open Chess Championship in Montreal, with 6/9.

In major tournaments, he in 1991 and 1992 was Israel champion U-20, and in 1992 won the Tel Aviv Open, and in 1993 he won the Netanya Open. He also won the 1994 International Festival in Tel Aviv, the 1995 Open tournament in Paris and the Tel Aviv Open, the 1997 Rishon-Lezion Open and Rapid Championship of Israel, the 1998 14th International Festival in Tel Aviv, the 2000 Open Championship of Rishon Lezion, the 2002 International Festival in Biel, Switzerland, 6th Itau Cup in São Paulo, Brazil, and 1st International tournament in San Salvador, El Salvador. He won the Calvia Open in Majorca, Spain in October 2007, winning in each of the first seven rounds to finish with a powerful score of 8/9. Mikhalevski was awarded the GM title in 1996.
