Patrick Nix (born April 7, 1972 in Attalla, Alabama) is the current offensive coordinator for the University of Miami Hurricanes football team.cite web|url=http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-0119umcoordinator,0,4834891.story?coll=sfla-sports-front|title=Sun-Sentinel: Patrick Nix accepts job as UM's offensive coordinator|accessdate=2007-04-09]

Player

Nix was a standout quarterback at Auburn University, where he came in for an injured Stan White vs. Alabama to help lead the Tigers to a perfect 11-0 record during his sophomore season in 1993. Nix graduated in 1995 as the school's career leader in passing efficiency. At Auburn, Nix played under head coach Terry Bowden; offensive coordinator Tommy Bowden, current head coach for Clemson; and quarterbacks coach Jimbo Fisher, now offensive coordinator at Miami's in-state rival FSU.

Coach

Early career

Nix began his coaching career with a three-year stint as an assistant at Jacksonville State University. From there, he received his first head coaching job at Division II Henderson State University. After two years, Nix left to become receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Samford University.

Georgia Tech

In 2002, Nix joined the coaching staff at Georgia Tech. Nix was Tech's running backs coach and recruiting coordinator during his first year. In 2003, he served as quarterbacks coach and running game coordinator . In 2004, he was elevated to offensive coordinator while continuing on as quarterbacks coach. For 2005, Nix's offense boasted both the ACC's leading rusher (Tashard Choice) and its leading receiver (Calvin Johnson). Prior to the 2006 season, Nix assumed full play-calling duties. Miami

In January 2007, Nix was hired by Miami to serve as offensive coordinator under head coach Randy Shannon.Although the offense struggled in Nix's first year much of the troubles can be attributed to lack of talent, especially at the WR and QB position. Miami's inked a talented recruiting class in February, addressing those issues. A true judgement of Nix's tenure can't be made at this time, less than a year after his hire.

Personal life

Patrick Nix is the son of Conrad Nix, the head coach of Northside High School located in Warner Robins, Georgia. [cite web|url=http://www.northsidefootball.com/coaches.php|title=Northside Football: Coaches|accessdate=2007-04-09] Nix is married to the former Krista Chapman and the couple has four children.
