Tony Potts, born on
January 23 ,1963 , is a correspondent and weekend host of "Access Hollywood ". Potts has been at "Access Hollywood" since April 1999.Prior to "Access Hollywood", Potts moved from New York to Los Angeles in late 1997 after signing a one-year, talk-show development deal with ABC/Buena Vista Television. The subsequent pilot was not picked up in late 1998. He then signed a development deal withParamount Television (he was once a correspondent/fill-in host on the Paramount TV-packaged "Entertainment Tonight " from June to September 1998) before leaving to joinNBC and "Access Hollywood".During the mid-90s he was one of the hosts of Fox Television's groundbreaking morning show "Good Day New York ". At the time, "Good Day New York" was the number one morning show in New York City, beating all the network morning shows. "Good Day New York" helped launch the career ofGordon Elliott , who went on to host his own nationally syndicated talk show. During Potts' time in New York he was cast in theRon Howard /Mel Gibson feature film, "Ransom". He has since appeared in a number of films and television shows. Potts was in the season-two finale of "" playing a helicopter pilot. He also played himself in a number of episodes ofCourteney Cox 'sFX series, "Dirt".On
February 16 ,2007 , Potts won the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game Most Valuable Player award, as Potts scored 14 points and had 8 rebounds as the West defeated the East 40-21.He graduated from
