List of Ontario rivers Secluded, pristine and bordered by forest, the Fall River arises just outside the western edge of Lanark County. Fed by numerous springs, it meanders and gurgles along the Trans Canada Trail; passes through the village of Maberly; fills the 20 km. of Bennett Lake; flows by the village of Fallbrook; and about 50 km. from its origins, and meets the Mississippi in the centre. Named after settlers in the late 17th century, the river is home to fish, turtles, Blue Herons, beaver and otters. Summer swimmers cool off in its pools and fishermen haunt the shores and bridges patiently waiting for ‘the big one’. Home of the Fall River Pub and Grill and Country Store, and the Fall River Forge, forever beautiful, ‘The Fall’ is one of the wonders of Lanark.
