Grovedale is a hamlet in northern Alberta, Canada. It is located south of Grande Prairie, in the Municipal District of Greenview. The hamlet lies along Highway 666,Cite web| url= http://www.discoverthepeacecountry.com/htmlpages/grovedale.html| title=Hamlet of Grovedale | author= Discover the Peace Country| accessdate=2007-01-17] in the Wapiti River valley, amidst farmland and ranchland at the northern limits of the boreal forests and aspen parkland of the Canadian Rockies foothills.

Grovedale has an approximate population of 500.

History

*1928: William and Mary Gabler settle in Grovedale.
*1934: Ferry service commences by donations. T.E. Cooke owned and operated the ferry.
*1939: Post office and general store open. Farmers start growing alfalfa in their fields.
*1945: First school opened with a class of 14 children.
*1958: Electrical lines reach Grovedale. Bridge crossing the Wapiti River opens.
*1963: Another school comes to Grovedale, from a small community 9 kilometres south of Grovedale.
*1967: The second school is renovated and named Penson Elementary School.
*1970s: Natural gas lines reach Grovedale.
*1975: Grovedale Community Centre was built.
