# "Butterfly"Getchoo is the second song from
Weezer 's second album, "Pinkerton". It as well as "Tired of Sex " is one of the most abrasive Weezer songs. This song was originally spelled "Gitchoo" and was written prior to the release of the The Blue Album, along with the songs: "Tired of Sex ," "Susanne," "Waiting On You," "Longtime Sunshine," and Why Bother? on an8-track . [ Luerssen D., John. "Rivers' Edge: The Weezer Story". ECW Press, 2004, ISBN 1-55022-619-3 p. 105]The song is from a first-person perspective. The narrator is an unhealthy and obsessive person addicted to someone else to the degree of discomfort. The song features aggressive playing and loud feedback that serves to the extreme nature and emotion of the song as well as drummer Patrick Wilson's increasingly strong fills. The last lead guitar progression of the song is a squealing riff that goes all the way to the top of the guitar neck, suggesting a "breaking point" at the conclusion.
Although it was given a "live break" for several years at the early part of the 2000s, it has recently resurfaced during concerts in a much more low key, slow and "chuggy" fashion.
During live shows in
2005 , Weezer guitarist Brian Bell would often take lead vocals on this song.Personnel
