The Lakewood School District #306 is the school district of North Lakewood, Washington. The school district serves approximately 2,500 students from Warm Beach, Lake Goodwin, and Smokey Point.

As of Early 2008, the school district has a high school, a middle school, and three elementary schools (one K-5, one K-2, and one 3-5).

The schools' mascot is a cougar. The school district publishes a seasonal newsletter called "Lakeviews".

History

Lakewood School District was established in 1958, with the opening of the new Lakewood School, the soon to be Lakewood Elementary. In 1972, Lakewood School became Lakewood Elementary and Grades 6 and up moved to the new Lakewood Middle School (then called Lakewood High School). In 1982, Lakewood got its own high school, Lakewood High School, so the former Lakewood High School became Lakewood Junior High School, and then Lakewood Middle School. After the completion of a full school district, Lakewood Elementary became overcrowded, so in 1995, English Crossing Elementary opened a few yards away, serving only Grades 3-5, leaving Lakewood Elementary with K-2. In 2003, Cougar Creek Elementary was completed, and became the only traditional K-5 school in the district.
