Reg Kerr

Reg Kerr

Reg John Kerr (born October 16 1957) is a retired professional Canadian ice hockey player.

Born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan, Kerr was drafted in the 3rd Round, #41 overall in the 1977 NHL Draft by the Cleveland Barons.

Played 263 total NHL games with the Cleveland Barons, Chicago Black Hawks, and the Edmonton Oilers. Reg Kerr was a left-winger with a decent scoring touch who played most of his 263 games with the Chicago Black Hawks. He was a patient player who was effective on the power play and killing penalties.

Born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan, Kerr played a year with the Penticton Panthers of the BCJHL before spending three seasons with the Kamloops Chiefs of the WCJHL. He was chosen 41st overall in the 1977 Amateur Draft by the Cleveland Barons and played his first seven games with them. Early in the 1977–78 season he was traded to the Chicago Black Hawks for Randy Holt. Kerr was sent to the Dallas Black Hawks for the rest of the year and scored 20 goals in 51 games.

Beginning in 1978–79, Kerr was a solid third line player for four years. He scored a career high 30 goals in 1980–81 playing with Terry Ruskowski and Grant Mulvey as well as rookie Denis Savard. Two years later he was out of the Hawks' plans and played the 1982–83 schedule with the Springfield Indians of AHL. Prior to the 1983–84 season he signed as a free agent with the Edmonton Oilers but played only three games. The majority of his time was spent with the AHL's Moncton Alpines where he played his last game as a pro before retiring in 1984.
