Mike Tannura was a meteorologist for WCIA, the CBS affiliate in Champaign, Illinois, from 2001 - 2004 and KHAS, the NBC affiliate in Hastings, Nebraska from 1998-2001.[1] Tannura is the president and founder of T-storm Weather, which provides forecasts for agricultural commodities.[2]
Tannura has a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Iowa State University and a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.[1] He credits much of his forecasting ability to an internship with Tom Skilling at WGN-TV in Chicago and Bill Gallus at Iowa State University.
In 2006, Tannura founded T-storm Weather,[1] a Chicago-based subscription service that provides fundamental weather forecasts and agricultural analyses for buyers and sellers of crops.
Tannura is often called "T-Storm" because of his love of severe weather and because his last name begins with the letter "T". He is well-known for his ability to recite storm statistics for every major weather system to ever hit the continental United States.
