The Pacific Media Expo (PMX) started in 2003 in California by Mike Tatsugawa, one of the founders of Anime Expo. As a convention, its focus is on anime and manga, J-Pop, J-Rock/Visual Kei, Gothic Lolita, J-Drama/K-Drama, Asian cinema and East Asian/Pacific Rim pop cultures. In its debut year of 2004, the convention gained fame for hosting concerts by T.M.Revolution, Nami Tamaki, and Psycho le Cému.Fact|date=November 2007
