- Sketchbook Media
Sketchbook Media is a self contained company based on, but not limited to, film/video creations of all lengths, event coverage, and web and graphics design. This is a result of a joint collaboration between three highly skilled and creative individuals, fresh out of college. Their names are Philip Wang, Wesley Chan, and Ted Fu, who are also noted for having created a highly popular film group by the name of Wong Fu Productions.
It should be noted that Wong Fu Productions and Sketchbook Media are often referred to as the same, while Sketchbook Media is more of a business-centered corporation, and Wong Fu Production a fan based group.Clients for this group vary, but music bands and artist seem to be a majority, perhaps due to their experience with other artists in the past and their partnering-up with
Far*East Movement .Profiles
Philip Wang:Born and raised at Walnut Creek in northern California, he refers to his childhood as "a typical Asian American upbringing" and with significant bike riding, along with a healthy dose of cartoons. Hitting college, he wound up at
UCSD ,University of California, San Diego . Unbeknownst to him at the time, Wesley Chan and Ted Fu also were incoming freshman at the time. His major was Visual Arts. He was also the first to start Wong Fu Productions and Sketchbook Media, and started it out as a small gathering of friends. That all changed when he first met Wesley and TedWesley Chan:Raised in Millbrae, California, he attended
Millbrae High School in his teens. He moved ontoUCSD , and took on a Visual Arts Media with his parents support. He and Ted met with Phillip through classes and gradually became part of Philip's group of friends who started Sketchbook Media. He is considered to be a skilled photographer along with his media arts skills.Ted Fu:Unlike the rest of the three, Ted does not have a hometown due to the fact his family traveled around the world frequently. He is quoted to have said "but now lookin back I realize that being in different cultures was a unique expierence which opened my mind". He also eventually enrolled at UCSD along with his soon to be companions, majoring Visual Arts Media, focusing on computing. He is also often seen engaged in photography in video blogs, and is assumed to handle much of the group's photography, along with the help of Wesley Chan.
Feature Length Film
So far, Sketchbook Media has recently produced one feature length movie, titled "A Moment with You". Although the concept was developed during as early as their last year in college, the film itself was made from October 2005 till June 2006, a grand total of about 8 months. It is described by the three as "the most ambitious and difficult project they've undertaken to date."What followed was one of their largest tours up to date, screening their movie at over 39 locations internationally.
